Great painting session on GD entry

Wow, I have been so stuck between work and studies, that I have had ample time for some painting. With the Golden Daemon competitions coming up, I figured I shoould really make a good start around now. I created one free day for painting, and dedicated it entirely to my entry for the UK competition.

Now most of the time I share all my stuff without any notice, but this time I want to keep it a bit special. Not because I am afraid that someone will steal my idea - that's ridiculous anyway! - but just to not give away the piece before the end.
Nonetheless, I promissed a preview / teaser. Yes: I'm doing a Space Wolf Terminator thing. And although I do not expect to win the GD with this, I would like to make it to the final cut. We'll see I guess.

Succabus finished, and then some...

Alright, I pushed a bit to be able to finish the Dark Eldar Succubus. Here she is:

I really like her, all bits and thingies have been painted with great care. Yet, as my girlfriend pointed out: that's exactly what might be wrong with the model. Almost every part of the model is screaming for attention which makes it just a bit over the top. Well, that's a good lesson as any, I guess. Go look her up op Coolminiornot and rate her:

Also, while I was doodling with the photo studio to get these pics, I noticed that I have not yet shown the completed version of my Skaven Sqeek conversion. I made him to jump out of the water (of the sewers!), and had to yet add the water. So below a pic of that. And while I am busy: I also rephotographed Army Brat, to see if I could get some better pics.

Dark Eldar Succubus WIP update

Here's a quick update on the Succubus. I have done the woman's hair, which is the firt time I'm doing a red head :P Also done the skulls on het back, and the fur cloak on het shoulders, as well as the boots, which should be nitty gritty from the dust on the floor. It's all coming together quite nicely, I think maybe a bit colorful for a Dark Eldar, but what the hell, right?
Only thing left to do is the weapon's shaft and the electro whip.

Dark Eldar Succubus WIP - mini exchange

As I said in my previous post, I am participating in a mini exchange with some friends. I got to get to paint a Dark Eldar Succubus in Citadel Finecast. Thank god for that last aspect, because the detail is so awesome :)
Here are the pics so far:

Mini Exchange, Wet Blending, and Golden Daemon entry?

I have started a few new project, mainly to paint some stress from work and study, and to do something different than the masses of rats in my Skaven army.

Yesterday, a few friends and me got together to do a mini exchange. We pooled in some long lost unpainted mini's from our own supplies, that we probably would never get around to painting ourselves. All models got redistributed so everybody is now painting a model for someone else.
I get to give a go at the Games Workshop Dark Eldar Succubus in the new Citadel Finecast. Man, that stuff is awesome, great detail and easy to handle. I think I am gonna have a blast doing this model.

Also, I have been following Stdio McVey's forum, and there I fond two videos where Ali McVey is doing some wetblending on one of the Sedition Wars mini's. I got so interested, finally seeing how it is done, that I had to try it. I got myself the Ork Boss from the GW Warhammer 40K Starter Set, and gave it a go. Now, I wouldn't be me, if I didn't want to make it so much more difficult for myself, so I decided to try a skin tone on the Ork, that starts from a normal flesh color, and try to create a 'realistic' green skin tone. In the pics below, I have applied the base coat in Tallarn Flesh, and have blended dark greens to create the shades. Next up are the highlights, and see what'll happen...

Oh, and I had myself tricked into participating in a Golden Daemon contest in the near future - maybe coming one? I don't wanna give the whole model away - especcially since there is still so much to be done - but I cannot contain myself in showing some pics...Enjoy!
